Accidental Father
the tale of the father who walked away

she was extremely excited,
she had the fairytale family
all worked out in her head.
she was glowing with joy
and bursting with anticipation.
they planned a romantic
getaway in the familiar garden
amongst the flowers,
they both loved.
after all, the smooching
and touchy-feely formalities
she shared the good news
with him.
it instantaneously drained
all the love out of his face
and
a ghostly looked
appeared
he was dumbfounded!
he became stiff as aboard
while he slowly wrestled out
of her tenderness,
and then the words he spoke
riddled her excitement.
with a stone face,
he said,
i'm not ready to be a father,
get rid of it!
she recoiled in astonishment.
and after she had
enough time to recover
she picked her jaw and excitement
off the ground,
then she rebutted soft
but firmly.
i’m keeping our baby!
he got up
walked away
and
never looked back.
today his beautiful baby girl
has grown and
she is the mirror image
of her father.
and it pains her mother
in those moments when she asks
for the thousand times,
mommy, where is my daddy?
