Childlike Joy in Raindrops: A Poem of Playful Memories

Raindrops

Raindrops
Lovers in the Rain
we took
the bold steps…

after much
contemplation…

into
the unrelenting rain.

the forced adjustment
to the icy crystal drops
was swift.

then gradually
we found
our childlike feet

with splish-splash,
we frolicked,
we fooled around,

we created
pools and muddy puddles
of fun memories.

then we paused
in a soaked embrace
while our lips
gravitated
in search of
much needed warmth.

a few
jealous raindrops
sneaked in
despite how tightly
the best efforts
of our lips.

i silently thought…
um…this is more than
a threesome…

we welcomed
the freshness
they added to
the moment’s magic
and continued
undistracted.
