Sanctuary: A poem revealing the calm that only true love can bring.

Sanctuary

Sanctuary
Sanctuary
I watch you fall asleep in my lap—
the weight of your body,
melting into mine
like dusk merging into night.

Your breath,
a quiet song rising and falling,
tunes my heart to a silence
I never knew I needed.

Your body,
curled up like a question
finally answered,
trusting every fiber in my being,
as if I were that perfect bed
you longed to rest upon.

I watch as tiredness dissolves
into something softer—
the crease between your brows
smoothing,
the flutter in your shoulders
giving way to stillness.

Peace,
unspoken but profound,
spreads across your face
like morning light
through sheer curtains.

And I,
A grateful witness to this
tender surrender,
hold my breath
so as not to disturb
the sacred hush
of this precious moment.

This is more than rest—
It’s a testimony to trust.

I am happy
to be the space
where you are most
yourself
unburdened,
unafraid,
completely at ease
in your own skin.

And in this stillness,
Your love speaks loudest.
